Art Every Day Month - Day 10
From the Mouths of Babes
This morning I was in my bedroom, happily getting ready for work. I had bought a new blouse from "White Stuff" - a shop I have just recently discovered. The clothes there are beautiful but quite expensive, so it had felt like a real treat to buy myself a blouse.
I have to admit I stood for a while looking at my new buy in the mirror, admiring the fabric until my 7 year old son William, skipped cheerfully in through the bedroom door. .................
......and what happened next is best described in the drawing below -
to say the least, I was a little crushed......
..........but you have to admire 7 year old honesty!!! :-)

Feather Delivery
Art Every Day Month - Day 7
Feather Delivery
In May we decided to adopt a cat from the Blue Cross Animal Shelter. When I looked through the cats on their website one particular kitty, seemed to call out to me. His name was Nick. Not really the name I'd have chosen for a cat - but when I went to meet him he was so friendly and playful I knew I wanted to give him a good home. He was nervous at first and very clingy. For months he followed me around the house like a devoted dog. He also started to play fetch with bits of paper - another doggy trait. We thought about re-naming him many times - he was going to be Stanley or Henry, but it was too late - Nick had stuck - he was going to be Nick forever. He is the most un - cat like cat I have ever owned. He loves to be out in torrential rain, he sleeps in the bath, even if someone has just drained it. He plays in the edges of our little pond and drags my water plants out!
One of his favourite things to do is to bring his "people" presents. By this I don't mean the usual birds and mice. I mean huge soggy, decaying leaves from my Fatsia Japonica or moths, and even worms - which he proudly drops at my feet and meows to loudly announce his generous squirming gift. I hope he never catches a bird or a mouse I really do. Today he brought me two feathers though - I have no idea what bird they are from - they are about 12" long. I hope it's not from someone else's chicken!
Anyway, they are beautiful, so I thought I'd paint one for Art Every Day Month.

I am taking part in an online challenge on Leah Piken Kolidas's blog.
November is "Art Every Day Month" I'm not sure if I'll manage to produce something every day but I'm going to try to be more productive. I see this as an opportunity to experiment and get a little closer to finding my style.
I have come into this a little late - Day 6 - so here's my first offering.
Day 6
The Gardener
My friends son was 3 today - she commented that the years were going too fast. My boys are now 11 and 6. It got me thinking about my eldest when he was 3 years old. How we seemed to spend hours in the garden together planting flowers, growing vegetables, having little picnics with his teddies or friends, or watching the aeroplanes and clouds. This painting is from a photo I took at the time. It shows Sam waddling down to the bottom of our garden (as only a three year old can waddle) - trowel in hand. Great times!

Spinnaker Tower
Sunday 6th November 2011
Today I went with my brother and my two sons to see the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth. A lift takes you to the top where there are 3 viewing floors. The views were quite incredible across Southampton water. There is a glass floor on one level. You can walk right across it if you dare! or even have a lie down!

Thanks for the mention, friend :) I know a BD is just a day & the actual growing is gradual - thankfully :) - but it really slapped me in the face - THREE!!
I love that you revisited 'three' yesterday :) xx
