Christmas, Party, Painting, and Street Art

Hello all,

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. It has been a busy one visiting family and friends. We have travelled to Croydon to see my family and then to Norfolk to see my partner's family and spend Christmas with them, which was lovely.

We held a Christmas party for our children - lots of party games and silly Christmas crafts - hunt the Snowman, pin the nose on the snowman etc...- can you see a theme ???!!!. I think I enjoyed it as much as the children did!!
It has been a lovely Christmas with a  trip to the theatre to see Christmas Carol - (thank you Granny!), plenty of food and drink, crisp cold walks, shopping in the sales, too much chocolate - far too much chocolate!

I have been trying to keep up with my running - did I mention I run?? Maybe not.... Well, I don't run huge distances - just enough to stave off the chocolate and gin and tonics!  I really enjoy it. I belong to the Eastleigh group of Southampton Running Sisters and we meet every Tuesday at the Hub in Bishopstoke.   I find it really relaxing to be out in the fresh air. For instance yesterday I ran 7k through Stoke Park woods, in Bishopstoke. I hardly bumped into a soul, just the odd dog walker,  squirrel and a flock of startled wood pigeon who rose suddenly from the undergrowth  heading for safety in the higher branches.

Anyway, I know I haven't posted in a while. Mainly because I couldn't show you what I was working on because it was a Christmas present for a dear friend. The painting was for her husband and represents their family  - each heart representing a  person - all connected together.

I used a lot of masking fluid and glazes to create the transparent layering. It was a good test for me as it forced me to use looser brush work - which doesn't come naturally to me. It was quite scary to do because it was "out of my comfort zone" - as they say, but I found I really enjoyed working on it and I am pleased with the results. So here it is....

Wasn't that BRILLIANT! Just makes me want to sneek out at the dead of night with my paintbrush!! Do you want to join me?? Its a hard decision, but if I had to choose, it would come down to the two miniature figures keeping warm around the cigarette by Slinkachu and the knitted tree jumper by Yarn Bombing / Guerrilla Crochet.

Which ones are your favourites??
